Reader's view: Boyle has earned our vote for county commissioner

Patrick Boyle understands government works best when it's grounded in action. He has served his City Council district well and with great integrity since being elected in 2009.

Patrick Boyle understands government works best when it's grounded in action. He has served his City Council district well and with great integrity since being elected in 2009.

He has earned our vote for St. Louis County commissioner.

The Jan. 14 special election will fill the 2nd District County Board seat left open when Steve O'Neil passed away last July. Angie Miller has done a remarkable job filling her husband Steve's seat and is not seeking election.

Boyle's strength as a public servant is in listening to citizens, knowing how to read a conflict, and proposing tangible solutions that bring people and constituencies together. He builds relationships across party lines and between different units of government.

That matters because units of government are not silos. St. Louis County needs someone who can work with others and has worked with others to solve conflicts and develop solutions. In a time of polarizing politics, Boyle offers a productive and refreshing voice, one that doesn't care about headlines and a media spotlight.

Boyle will be missed on the council, where we both had the honor of working with him. Join us Jan. 14 in voting Boyle as our next St. Louis County commissioner.
