Reports on the Romney/Ryan Medicare scheme refer to it as a voucher plan to "save Medicare," but no one mentions that it seems deceptive. As I understand the plan, it would allow young and old to divert Medicare tax money from the Medicare Trust Fund to the profiteering insurance industry instead, gradually privatizing Medicare and hastening its bankruptcy, which seems the intention.
Recall in 2004 President George W. Bush's scheme to "save Social Security" would've allowed employees to divert payroll tax money from the Social Security Trust Fund into the Wall Street casino instead, gradually privatizing Social Security and hastening its bankruptcy, which seemed his intention. This deception was blocked when the public caught on.
The national Republican campaign for voter ID is another of the party's habitual deceptions, pitched to "prevent voter fraud." In fact, it would disenfranchise those who would oppose all of the deceptive schemes: seniors who no longer drive and need Medicare (and Social Security -- that's next) and low-income people who can't afford to drive and need food stamps, unemployment insurance, low-interest student loans and affordable health care, which seems to be their intention.
Any deceptive scheme pitched as beneficial but intended to harm is a scam. Beware.
