Talk about killing the goose that laid the golden egg! That Ely hunter squandered all the goodwill spread across the country by bear lovers, to say nothing of the tourist and retail dollars ("Ely area research bear killed," Sept. 8).
Ely had it going via a 70-year-old man who loves bears and Facebook. I'm betting that the Facebook fans who voted the park into the No. 1 spot and got it $100,000 won't put up with another killing.
Those bears were the golden goose for Ely; too bad the hunters didn't recognize it.
