As it ought to be, anyone can freely submit their thoughts, feelings and ideas to these opinion pages. I, however, still can't help but chuckle every time I read a new letter put forth by local atheists, such as the Jan. 20 Reader's View, "Rational people don't waste time on religion." The atheist writers all seem to have the same theme and tone: There is absolutely no god, they say; there is absolutely no creator, there can be no chance for such a phenomenon, and all who believe so are complete idiots.

They seem to like to think of themselves as smarter and more enlightened than the rest of us gullible Kool-Aid drinkers. Their ultra-defensive and condescending attitude is trumped only by the complete lack of scientific fact or logic on which they base their arguments. If life in any prehistoric form evolved from some sort of raw material or matter, tell me, athiests, where did this original matter come from? Simple scientific logic: Something cannot come from nothing.

Notice I didn't even have to interject religion into the conversation.
