I was born and raised in Duluth with relatives in Proctor, International Falls, Minn., and Stevens Point, Wis. I now live in a small town in Oregon. I moved away from Duluth 58 years ago when I was married.
This last July I made the best trip to Duluth I ever could have imagined. My niece and her husband were the ultimate people to show me my roots. Enger Tower is so endearing to me with so many memories of playing up there and climbing the stairs where we used to play tag. And Lake Superior is prettier than I could ever imagine. My niece Nancy and husband Tim took me and my daughter to every school, playground and church and to visit a relative who now lives in Two Harbors and who I had not seen for a very long time.
To sum it all up, Duluth was about the best place to grow up, all due to the wonderful mom and dad I had who were the perfect parents.
I will be back to see Enger Tower all lit up someday. Good to see the park area around there is kept up so nice.
