I have been treated by the Veterans Administration since 1950. Having spent two years in the sanitarium, I have seen a lot of changes in the VA. I look back in time to the World World II era and reflect on the help veterans received at that time, and I am truly amazed by how far VA services have advanced.

I have been a patient at the Twin Ports VA Clinic since it opened. In all those years, I have never been disappointed in the treatment I have received. The clinic has been expanding to what it is today. One doctor has been largely responsible for this, Dr. Clyde Markon. The clinic has a fine staff of other health professionals that are doing a wonderful service to this community.

This past month I took a fall, scraped my leg, and it got infected. I went to the clinic as a walk-in. In a short time, I was looked at by a nurse. Then she had a very fine doctor look at the leg. I was given an antibiotic and told to come back in three days for blood work. Upon returning to the clinic and not improving, the doctor sent me next door to the St. Mary's Hospital-Superior for further treatment to be paid by the VA.

The next time you visit the VA Clinic, take time to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff for the great job they are doing.
