The long arm of the lawn law won't be reaching into anyone's yard, after all. A measure to limit grass to
10 inches tall failed by the narrowest of margins during Monday's Duluth City Council meeting.
So put away your tape measure.
But keep pulling out your lawn mower. Because the goal behind the proposal -- to combat property neglect and to prevent a few lousy properties from sullying entire neighborhoods -- remains a worthwhile mission.
To landlords and homeowners alike: Mow. Or find someone to do it for you. Do it whether or not it's the law. A better-looking and prouder Duluth will thank you.
