Denfeld’s 1947 boys basketball team is the only Denfeld basketball team to win a state title. The team’s head coach was Lloyd Holm. Team members were Rudy Monson, Larry Tessier, Paul Nace, Kenneth Sunnarborg, Eugene Norlander, Howard Tucker, Tony Skull, Jerry Walczak, Bruce Budge, Keith Stolen and student manager Bob Scott.

Bob Woodward's book about "fear" in the White House explains why we feel rising risks. Woodward describes President Donald Trump's White House as "a zoo without walls." One staffer called it "Crazytown." Growing up in a family where a high value was placed on acquisition, Trump apparently became delusional in support of his family's values. Now the state of New York is investigating him for fraud and tax evasion linked to $400 million from his father.

This is why we are anxious about what Trump has done to the GOP. Republicans used to show pride in the taxes they paid. Trump refuses to show us his business holdings and past taxes, and the Republican majority lets it slide.

Voters are growing anxious because early in Trump's business life, tax fraud and bankruptcies seemed to be tools used to stay solvent.

We now recognize that Trump's poor leadership with the GOP majority has promised to add more than $700 billion to the federal deficit. GOP leaders historically made budgeting a priority. Next year a lack of Republican budget discipline will lead us toward a federal deficit of $1 trillion and a cumulative federal debt of more than $21 trillion. The lack of a budget plan and the lack of fiscal restraint by Rep. Paul Ryan has led some in the GOP to suggest cutting Social Security, Medicare, health care, and education. This is enough to rattle markets and shake voter confidence. Our debt service grows.

More than half the voters on Tuesday will be women. Some women like men who tell them lies, but not many. Trump's use of mistruths on a daily basis is unlikely to win many votes for Republicans from women.

Trump's delusional statements suggest he does not understand reciprocity or interdependence. He uses his power and the fear it generates to manipulate women and others. This is not a formula for success, as has been noted in multiple books about his lack of moral leadership. This was compounded by the GOP's rush to anoint Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, even after three women broke their silence to allege sexual improprieties. Hubris brings costs.

Voters are not delusional. They do not vote for leaders who lie.

Trump is reluctant to acknowledge the earth's climate is warming at an accelerating rate. This level of arrogance from the Republican Party leader brings unprecedented risks. The GOP chooses to ignore the costs of fossil fuels to our ecosystem and economy.

Global climatologists indicate that the degree of warming is accelerating. According to the recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report, earthlings have roughly 10 years to change our carbon emissions. Otherwise, the economic, health, and civic consequences will move to a scale never seen in history. The GOP must give up its delusions or accept climate impacts on our communities, economies, and creation. The alt-right is wallowing in fossil-fuel wealth and has worked with the American Legislative Exchange Council to delude the public and undermine our elections. This includes Republican owners of Cambridge Analytica, who worked with Russian partners to cultivate disunity.

Voters have an opportunity to change our direction. Most voters sense the risks and do not like American liars or those who support them.
