TAMPA, Fla. -- This past week was the opportunity of a lifetime for me.

Most kids were in their living rooms watching the Republican National Convention on TV, but I was at the Tampa Bay Times Forum, watching the convention in person. This was an amazing opportunity for a kid. It was truly a dream, and I give all credit to my mom for making it come true.

The week was full of learning new things from very intelligent speakers. I would list them all, but the list would go on forever, so I will tell about the ones I enjoyed most, those speeches that were the highlights of my week.

The theme of the convention was, "We Built It." All the speeches touched on how Americans succeed because they work hard and that we need a leader who won't put us down when we succeed.

The speech made by vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan inspired me as a kid to do great things in my future. Ryan had so much passion in his speech, and he put everyone's mind at ease. As chairman of the House Budget Committee, he already has established ideas to bring America's financial house in order. He gave me hope for my future.

I never really heard about Ryan until he was announced as Mitt Romney's running mate. After hearing his speech, I can tell he will make a fabulous vice president. He knows what we need to do to get back on the right path in this country -- and he will make

that happen.

Ann Romney's speech was flawless, I'm sure many would agree. I enjoyed her speech because it wasn't really about politics; it was about love: for her family, friends and for her country. I think her speech touched all our hearts. She has been through so much in her life: breast cancer, multiple sclerosis and being the young mother of five boys. And she has been a fighter through it all. I got to learn so many things about her I didn't know. I know now that when times get tough for her, she will keep

fighting.

The speech I looked forward to all week proved even better than I imagined. While accepting his party's nomination, Mitt Romney was passionate, and he lifted our hope for our country. He made me believe he is the one who can put our country back together. With his love for his family, friends and country, he showed he has the strength and experience to make our country the best country in the world again.

I actually had my doubts about Romney before this past week, but after hearing him speak Thursday night, I know his experience has prepared him to lead our country into a brighter future.

The last four years have been very hard on all walks of life, and Mitt Romney is the one who can provide a better country, not only for the adults in this country, but also for the future generation -- my generation.
