Reader's View: Tax burden driving retirees from MN

Regarding the Sept. 3 letter, “ Taxes in Minnesota quite a shocker,” we moved to Minnesota three years ago, despite being warned about the tax environment here. Family issues dictated our relocation to Duluth. Nonetheless, I am still shocked each year with our increased tax burden. We have since met a number of similarly aged Minnesotans who will leave the state upon retirement for this very issue with taxes.

Rather than rambling on (which I certainly could), I wish to express my appreciation for a letter addressing this matter. Its words spoke for many. The letter was the most spot on I’ve read in the last three years.
