Reader's View: Stauber again falls in line behind Trump

Does he repudiate the bullying, intimidation, false claims, and actions of Trump on that phone call?

On Sunday, Jan. 3, Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger tweeted, “To every member of Congress considering objecting to the election results, you cannot — in light of this — do so with a clean conscience.” He was referring both to his Republican colleagues who continue to object to the legally certified results of the November 2020 presidential election and to the recorded phone call with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger during which outgoing President Donald Trump demanded that Raffensperger “find” 11,780 votes to overturn Trump’s defeat in that state.

I want to know about 8th Congressional District Republican Congressman Pete Stauber’s conscience. He’s allowed very little light between himself and Trump, whose lead he often follows. All of us in District 8 deserve a full and public response from Stauber. Does he repudiate the bullying, intimidation, false claims, and actions of Trump on that phone call? Will he defend the Constitution, as he has sworn to do, and show the true patriotism of standing up for our democracy and rule of law? Or will he fall in line again and fail us?
