President Donald Trump started the rigged-election talk because of mail-in voting and absentee ballots many months before Nov. 3. Then he beat that drum during and especially after the election. His words amplified by the White House loudspeaker and totally believed by his supporters will live on. Even as his lawsuits are disdained and dismissed, often "with prejudice," the "rigged-election" narrative raises huge amounts of campaign money for Trump and gives Republicans an excuse for losing even while the overwhelming noise of the deadly pandemic vies for their attention.
