Since Benjamin Franklin established the United States Post Office in 1775, the post office has been there for us, delivering mail in all kinds of conditions to everyone in the U.S. To those who say, “Who cares? We can always use FedEx and UPS,” please remember this: The U.S. Post Office does not get to pick and choose to whom it delivers.
Of special note, in this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, voting will most probably have to be conducted by mail. It is imperative we have a robust U.S. Post Office to make that happen.
Right now the post office is in a severe financial crisis. This is its hour of need. Please join me in contacting Congressman Pete Stauber (202-225-6211) and Sens. Amy Klobuchar (202-224-3244) and Tina Smith (202-224-5641) to urge them to make sure this vital service receives adequate funding.
