Reader's View: No more silence on cigarette smoking

When will “all-knowing” Dr. Anthony Fauci say something about tobacco?

“See Something, Say Something” was the T-shirt message on the grocery shopper who exited the store ahead of me. Did it mean that if I see someone smoking in a car with a child or pet, I should speak up?

Colorado has no law to protect kids and pets from toxic tobacco smoke in vehicles. I remember my 11-year-old awesome Florida foster son telling me that while he was on a van ride from Maine to Key West, Florida, he would crawl under a blanket whenever his mother smoked.

When will “all-knowing” Dr. Anthony Fauci say something about tobacco? How can he continue to be silent on cigarette smoking, as it painfully slays 480,000 Americans annually? Maybe Fauci owns tobacco stock like former Centers of Disease Control and Prevention Director Brenda Fitzgerald.

No Father’s Day for me since 1963, as my poor Alabama World War II veteran dad surrendered his life to his smoking-caused emphysema. I will die saying something about legal but lethal tobacco.
