Reader's View: Medicare for All the affordable way to go

Reader's View.jpg

The Medicare for All Act of 2019 would improve and expand current Medicare to cover every American for every known medical necessity. No one would be left out. Coverage would not require copays or deductibles. It would be a genuine single-payer health plan paid for by taxes to the government that would allow you to get the health care you need from private doctors and clinics. Once fully implemented, no American would ever have to fear not having health care. Under Medicare for All, the only thing that would dramatically change is there would be no need to worry about how to pay when you need to concentrate on healing.

It is way past time American voters demanded that their federal politicians vote to pass the Medicare for All Act of 2019. It would cost America only half of what the current American health system costs. There would be no need for anyone to purchase additional health insurance. No premiums; no parts A,B,C,or D; no donut hole; fewer headaches. We would save money by eliminating outrageous health insurance company CEO salaries and perks, unnecessary advertising, and shareholder dividends. Additionally, we would save by having a single negotiating agent for medicine and medical devices for every American. Doctors would save time because they wouldn’t have to deal with myriad insurance plans.

Right now, most Americans are under the threat of losing their current health care benefits. We are incensed with having to grovel before a corporate bureaucracy to receive the health care we need.

Health care is a human right! We are tired of paying twice as much as what other developed countries’ citizens do for health care and disgusted that our lives are shorter than theirs. America simply cannot afford to go without Medicare for All.
