The review of the Line 3 Replacement Project has taken too many years, but with key construction permits being granted by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, the process finally seems to be coming to a finish. It’s now really time to think about construction (“ Agencies grant permits to Enbridge Line 3, ” Nov. 13)..
Over the course of six years of countless studies, meetings, and public input, replacing Line 3 has been proven again and again to be the right move for our state. It’s frustrating that projects like it take so long to review and that politics gets in the way of something so important. We can now see that Line 3 is necessary and will benefit our state. The demand for it is there. The need for it is there. When everything is looked at, it remains the best choice.
The permits being granted is great news for our state, and we can now move forward and build this important infrastructure.
Not only will the project put thousands of people to work and bring more than $2 billion to our state’s economy in the short term, it will help to ensure we have a dependable supply of safely transported petroleum in the long term.
