Now is the time to make a big impact locally. We are in an "off-year" voting cycle, which risks low voter turnout.
Why does this matter? Our community leaders have an enormous impact in our communities. These local leaders — like mayor, city councilors, county commissioners, and School Board members — are deeply rooted in our everyday lives, making decisions right here at home.
If you ever felt your vote does not matter, be sure it does locally. Each vote counts, and each vote determines the future of our city, county, and schools.
On behalf of the League of Women Voters, Duluth, I urge you to get out and vote. Let's show our state how we invest in our community and participate in democracy.
Since 2015, Duluth voter turnout has decreased by nearly 20%, according to the Duluth City Clerk data.

Don’t let this “off-year” election pass us by. I challenge you to bring a neighbor, a friend, a co-worker or a family member to the polls on Nov. 5. Or vote today at Duluth City Hall, third floor. We cannot afford to minimize the impact of local races.
