Reader's View: Avoid COVID complacency over holidays

Some of these steps are easy; others are more difficult.

As we all experience fatigue from the COVID-19 pandemic, now is not the time to be complacent. In Northeastern Minnesota, COVID-19 cases are currently surging, and the upcoming holiday season with social gatherings may exacerbate the problem. Already, health care providers and many other front-line workers are stretched thin.

We can all help slow these infections by following the much-publicized preventative steps, including good hand hygiene, wearing masks in public places, social distancing, avoiding indoor social gatherings, and staying home when sick. Some of these steps are easy; others are more difficult. All are necessary as we come together as a community to help fight this pandemic.
