Reader's View: Abortion takes away a baby’s right to live

When I hear about someone having an abortion, it makes me sick to my stomach.

I'm a freshman at Lakeview Christian Academy in Duluth. I am a strong Christian, and I don't believe in abortion. Abortion should be illegal.

Abortions are wrong. Imagine if you were a child: Would you want to be killed? I don't think so. The only time abortion should be allowed is in an emergency and a doctor needs to perform an abortion to save a mother’s life.

People say we need to have equal rights. But an abortion takes away a baby’s right to live. People contradict themselves by saying equal rights are needed for everyone.

If you were a baby, would you want to die? Think about it. You wouldn't have all the fun you had as a child. You wouldn't have all the fun you had when you were an adult. You wouldn't experience all the fun things in life that you have if your parents had chosen to have an abortion. Wouldn't you want for your own child to have as much fun as you did in life? I think you would.

When I hear about someone having an abortion, it makes me sick to my stomach.

When you have an abortion, you are essentially committing a crime. You are committing murder, but you won't go to jail.

If you disagree with all of this, that is your choice. I highly recommend you don't disagree, though, because if you kill a baby they won't have a life.

Letters to the editor are a critical part of the community dialogue, and the News Tribune attempts to publish all letters of opinion meeting our requirements.
Letters are limited to 300 words, must be the original work of the author and must be exclusive to the News Tribune. Letters are edited for style, space, accuracy and civility. Letter writers are limited to one published submission every 30 days.
With rare exceptions, the News Tribune does not publish poetry; letters that are anonymous, libelous, or attack other writers; consumer-complaint letters; thank-you letters or letters generated by political or special-interest campaigns.
We will consider exclusive local view columns of about 600 words or fewer. Authors should possess unique insights, and their commentaries should demonstrate greater knowledge of their subject than letters.
