I am earning a degree in public health at the University of Minnesota Duluth. I am writing to praise Rep. Jennifer Schultz for supporting new funding for tobacco prevention in our state’s new budget. These investments will save lives and pave the way to a healthier Minnesota.

Over the past two decades, Minnesota’s comprehensive tobacco-control investments have prevented thousands of deaths and hospitalizations. These efforts have also saved billions of dollars.

Our work is not done, especially if you consider the high rates of youth vaping and tobacco-related health disparities. Thanks to Rep. Schultz’s leadership, Minnesota will continue its work to prevent youth addiction and to help adults quit.

Tobacco products have taken control and priority in the lives of my loved ones for generations. With this investment, my family and friends could have stronger support and resources to help pave a path to better health and prevent illness or disease.

Rep. Schultz has helped create a smoke-free generation in Minnesota!
