I am writing regarding the decision by the Duluth School Board to build a new administrative building and transportation center at a cost of about $31.5 million. I am not a resident of Duluth or Minnesota, but I felt I wanted to comment on this.
I feel the cost of the new buildings is not warranted. The district could remodel buildings it already owns, lease buildings, or buy buildings at a much lower cost. A large portion of the money that would then be left over could be used for educational needs and expenditures, not for something like what they are doing.
