I am very concerned for the future of northern Minnesota. We have weathered rough times in the past, but the current assaults are life-threatening. We are proud, hard-working people who want to keep our families safe and earn a living and who feel the future for our children and grandchildren is bright.

All of that is threatened by the policies being thrust upon us with executive orders and the push for adherence to a Green New Deal.

The Green New Deal would require a nearly complete transformation of the energy grid across America. The policies of President Joe Biden and Democrats suggest that the minerals and resources we should use for that transformation cannot come from the U.S. They are canceling oil, gas, and mineral development on federal lands. They are threatening mining everywhere, including here on the Range.

Mining produces jobs with livable wages and economic stability for our area. Our very own Congressman Pete Stauber introduced Saving America's Mines Act. This legislation would prohibit any administration from unilaterally halting the mining of critical minerals on federal lands where mining is currently permissible.

We must work to protect our mining industry. It is time we take a stand to safeguard our present and future.
