My wife and I are independent voters, as are about 30% to 35% of Americans, according to polls that seem to be taken every time we are in a national election. We will not be voting for any Republicans, however, for any offices, for any time in the future.

They are responsible for the deaths, two suicides of law enforcement officers, 140 serious injuries, and destruction at the nation’s Capitol on Jan. 6. All who still stay loyal to the previous president share that blood and guilt.

“Roughly 70 percent of Republican voters continue to support Trump strongly, polls suggest,” the New York Times reported on Feb. 15.

My wife and I remember that mobster Al Capone killed lots of folks and went to prison over taxes. Let’s hope our state legal systems can get done what the Republicans refused to.

We will consider exclusive Local View columns of 600 words or fewer. Authors should possess unique insights, and their commentaries should demonstrate greater knowledge of their subject than letters.
