I thoroughly enjoyed the great article in the Aug. 15 Northland Outdoors section about Blue Mounds State Park (“In farthest corner of the state, Blue Mounds State Park offers prairie remnants”).

We lived in southwestern Minnesota in Dawson for 33 years, and we went on camping trips to beautiful Blue Mounds and watched full moons and eclipses there. One time I pointed out to my brother-in-law some of the bison — a distance away. Well, they turned out not to be bison but huge round bales of hay!

Do they still have the Blue Mound turkey dinners? They were delicious.
