This letter is paid content. When I read Eric Simonsen’s campaign flyer on jobs and bonding money, I chuckled.
He takes credit for bringing millions of dollars in building projects and hundreds of construction jobs to Duluth.
I chuckled because as a former Minnesota State Senator myself, I know the “jobs and bonding” process. It has very little to do with individual Senators, although they’re quick with self-congratulations.
It’s “basic housekeeping” for a Senator. Years in advance, a prioritized list of construction projects is made. When a district’s projects rotate up for their turn, the Senator gets handed a bill.
Whomever represents Duluth does that basic work - Democrat, Republican, man or woman.
As the DFL primary approaches, it’s time to bring more home to Duluth than just “the basics.” Yes, bring building projects and good jobs, but it’s time to step up our game!
DFL-endorsed Jen McEwen brings progressive energy and a passion for servant leadership. Local Democrats believe Jen McEwen is a better fit for Duluth’s vibrant, clean, and inclusive Northland.
Choose DFL-endorsed Jen McEwen in the Democratic primary on Tuesday, August 11.
