This response is to downtown business operator Jerry Fredrickson's Feb. 27 commentary on the city considering making First Street a two-way (Local View: “Making First Street a two-way 'a dumb idea'”). Fredrickson and I can both remember about 25 years ago when city officials said it would be safer to make streets and avenues downtown one-way. Now we’re contemplating the opposite decision and a change to street designs.

It comes down to our city leadership not knowing what’s going, which was already proven by the snowplowing this winter and the city department heads. Let’s save the money and get rid of these people now.
