As I sit on Tuesday afternoon, not able to drive anywhere, I am angry. My street has not been plowed yet since the weekend storm. I do understand that it was a lot of snow, heavy and wet, and there are hundreds of miles of streets to plow with limited resources. I am willing to be a little patient. I am retired, and we made sure to stock up before the storm, so, personally, I have not been terribly inconvenienced.
What makes me angry is learning that snow removal already has taken place along the Lakewalk for walking and biking. City Parks and Recreation staff used their department’s equipment while Public Works and its equipment is used to clear streets.
How is this good use of our tax dollars? Clearing recreational spaces when many cannot drive away from their homes? Whoever made that decision made a really bad choice.
