Kudos to our mayors of the Twin Ports, Emily Larson and Jim Paine, for their stellar performances in A.R. Gurney's two-character play, "Love Letters," on April 10 at Mitchell Auditorium at the College of St. Scholastica. Mayors Paine and Larson not only provided a poignant and moving evening of entertainment, they also helped raise money for the Duluth Sister Cities International Youth Scholarship Fund. The funds will further our mission of promoting "mutual respect and global understanding through cultural, economic, and educational endeavors."

Duluth Sister Cities will host a delegation from Isumi City, Japan, from June 28 through July 4, including its mayor and other dignitaries. Sister Cities has been sending student delegations to Isumi City for decades, and by establishing a scholarship fund we will be able to help even more youth take part in this incredible educational and cultural experience.

Our mayors can be appreciated for donating their time and furthering opportunities for our youth.

Incidentally, if they ever decide to give show biz a shot, I think a Tony will be in their future!
