Reader's View: On Easter, connect with Jesus

Easter is about believing and living in Jesus and the cross.

The Bible states, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." Jesus healed the blind, lame, and demon-possessed, and He raised the dead, like his friend Lazarus. "I am the resurrection and the life. He that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die," Jesus said. He also said, "I am in my Father, and ye in me and I in you. ... For what profits a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?"

Jesus was seen by hundreds to prove He was alive. Even today, people have seen and heard Him , as I have. Such moments are recorded in books, including "Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus," and movies like "The perfect Wave," about Ian, who died, met Jesus, and lived again.

Jesus said, "If a man keeps my saying, he shall never taste of death." Indeed, according to the Scriptures, Elijah, Moses, and John didn't die.

Jesus died on the cross so we don't have to die — if we believe and accept Him as our personal savior. "If any man come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me," Jesus said.

Most Christians do Jesus' works, like caring for the poor and sick, forgiving, and teaching morality, all of which are important. Yet Jesus also said, "The true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth."

It's important to pray the Lord's Prayer daily ("Give us this day our daily bread") to connect with Jesus. Jesus proves himself through miracles to gain our trust.
