I was appalled by the letter to the editor that referred to state representatives from the Northland and stated that they do not represent the "people of Minneapolis or St. Paul or Little Mogadishu." Who approved this as appropriate for publication? Adding "Little Mogadishu" was an obvious racist reference to Minnesota's large black and brown immigrant Somali community (Reader's View: "Don't grant 'illegals' driving privileges," April 14).

Can we expect the n-word to soon appear on a News Tribune Opinion page? Free speech, right?
