I believe all employees are important. There is a saying: “Be nice to those on your way up; you might meet them on your way down.” President Donald Trump has proven this to be true.

I commend the men and women who deliver newspapers, door-to-door, daily, rain or shine, and during early-morning hours. The newspaper is the first thing I look for in the morning. I do the Cryptoquip and the crossword daily as I eat breakfast — and have been doing the same routine every day since we came to Duluth in 1968, a beautiful city. I am amazed that cellphone users get to read the paper for free.

Those valued men and women who deliver the newspapers deserve a word of thanks in the News Tribune for what they do. They are on the job very early, no matter what the weather.

I’m now 88 and wonder what the next 10 years will be like.
