Reader's View: Inaccurate impeachment letter was fake news

The Sept. 7 letter stating that the "U.S. House can't impeach Trump" was inaccurate. The House actually has the power to impeach.

If you read clause 6 of Article 1, Section 1, it says, "The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments." The key word is "try." If you read article 1, Section 2, Clause 5, it says, "The House of Representatives shall (choose) their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment."

In other words, the House establishes impeachment, and the Senate decides whether there are grounds of punishment (including removal from office).

The letter was just another example of "fake news" and the right's continued effort to not recognize who they elected to office.
