Reader's View: Calls for Nolan to resign are overdue
I read with amusement and joy that finally people are asking U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan to resign and go away ("Activists march, call on Nolan to resign," Aug. 3).
What took them so long? Where were they in 1977 and 1978 when Nolan, a long-haired, bearded congressman from the 6th District, worked against us and refused to support our Congressman Jim Oberstar's bill to preserve outboard-motor use, snowmobile use, and limited logging in the portal zones of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness? Where were they when Nolan sat on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives like a petulant child protesting the private gun-ownership rights of his constituents last year? Why didn't they call for him to resign then, as he should have?
What is it with those from left wing? When LGBTQ rights are being violated, they protest and call for resignations. But when other neighbors' rights are being violated, they are happy as clams? Something seems amiss.
