I read the July 8 letter, "Trump's Fourth parade was sickening," about how both a hot dog-eating contest in New York and “President Donald Trump’s self-indulgent rolling of tanks through the streets of the nation’s capital” for the Fourth of July should have caused ordinary people to be sick to their stomachs.

Now, I agreed that the hot dog contest was really gross. But what I saw of the president's Independence Day event was a magnificent non-political tribute to the U.S. military and this country. The letter missed that, I suspect either because the writer didn't watch closely enough or was just blinded by hatred for the president.
