It seems like the News Tribune's attempts to be a more local paper took a new reach on Sunday, Nov. 23.

The purpose of a newspaper, I thought, was to present news. Also, I thought that the front pages of newspapers were to present the most significant and newsworthy items, lest maybe a small human-interest item to grab attention.

To make an article on pies the focal point and major headline for a Sunday front page was a real stretch ("The pie probe," Nov. 23). Plus, the article was really an opinion piece that belonged either on the editorial page or local news pages.

The News Tribune can please stick to its knitting and present the news on the front page. Leave the cutesy items in more appropriate locations.
