The annual Day of Remembrance honors three young black men -- Elias Clayton, Elmer Jackson and Isaac McGhie -- who were falsely accused of raping a white woman and who were lynched in Duluth in June 1920. The details:
When: Noon, Monday, June 15
Where: At the Clayton, Jackson McGhie Memorial at First Street and Second Avenue East.
What: The event will feature youth poetry, music, and a reflection on the memorial and its meaning and message. Toni Thorstad, the Port Cities Woman of the Year for 2009, will be the featured speaker. Duluth Mayor Don Ness will provide opening remarks.
