William “Bill” “Butch” Edward Berg

Butch, passed to a “better place” on September 7th 2020 in his home in Canyon Lake California. Butch was born to William and Lois Berg December 2nd 1950 in Duluth Mn.
Butch joined the Marines after high school and spent his 4 years of service in California.
Life was difficult for him as he struggled with substance abuse and mental health issues which led to isolation and homelessness for many years. He traveled the southern states by foot and hitchhiking living out of doors wherever he could find shelter. He did spend about a year in a group home in Louisiana but one day up and left to continue his lonely nomadic lifestyle. However, in the last two years of his life he was sheltered and cared for in a California group home where he received loving care by several dedicated care givers. During this time he was reconnected with his sister Nancy and in the very last weeks of his life was reunited with her in his home in California. Nancy would like to thank all of the people of Riverside County CA who showed Butch love and compassion during this special time of his life, especially, JoAnn, Stephanie, Julita and Melissa. You made his final days here in this life very comfortable and enjoyable.
Butch is survived by a sister Nancy McVean (Ronald) Duluth MN, 3 nephews and their families.
A private burial will take place at Forrest Hill Cemetry, Duluth MN at a later date.
