William A. Dillan passed away on Sunday, November 22 as a result of COVID-19.

Bill was born in Duluth on April 4, 1931 to J.A. (Al) and Dorothy Dillan.  He graduated from Proctor High School and the University Of Minnesota-Duluth.  Bill proudly served his country for many years as a Korean War veteran and a naval officer.

He was an active member of many Duluth organizations, including the Duluth Masonic Center-Euclid Lodge, Junior Achievement, Kiwanis, AFS, and the American Legion, serving as adjutant of Proctor Legion Post 71.

Bill loved to read, sing, dance, play cards and hold babies. He loved to learn and was a quietly proud member of Mensa and an unbeatable Jeopardy player. More than anything, he loved his family.

Bill was deeply loved and will be missed by his family; his high school sweetheart and wife of 68 years, Kay, his children Debra Campbell(Tom), Dan (Mindy), David (Stefanie) and DeAnne (Paul Lokowich), his grandchildren Elizabeth, Ben, Max, Haley, John, Annie, Luke and Duygu, his great-granddaughter Brinley and his sister Ginny Wehde and brother Al Dillan, Jr., along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dotty Raun.

We would like to thank the staff of St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood for the extraordinary care and compassion they offered to Bill and our family.

Bill supported many causes, but he was especially committed to services for children and veterans. Memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.

Private family services will be held in the spring.  Arrangements by Crescent Tide Funeral and Cremation Services, 774 Transfer Road , St. Paul, MN 55114,   CrescentTide.com
