Stanley Allen Nelson


Stanley Allen Nelson Sr., of Two Harbors, went to his eternal home at the age of 88, Friday February 26, 2021, surrounded by his family. Stan was the second born on October 12, 1932 to Magnus and Edna Nelson in Sebeka, MN.

When Stan was 8 years old, they moved north of Isabella. Stan began his full time logging job at age 9 to help support his family.

In October of 1952, Stan enlisted in the US Marine Corps. He was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, served in the Korean War, and was proud to serve his country.

Stan married Judy(Moser) in 1960 and soon after started their family. They lived in the Isabella area for 16 years before moving to Two Harbors in 1976. Stan loved the community of Two Harbors, as he was an active member of his community. Stan served as County Commissioner for 8 years, and a CO-OP Light and Power Board Member for 12 years. He also served as a member of several other local organizations. Stan owned and operated Stan Nelson Logging, and Stanley A. Nelson Auctioneering Service. Stan volunteered countless hours of his time towards church benefits and non-profits as an auctioneer. His last auction was October of 2016 for the Ladies of the Moose, for their Annual Fall Fundraiser.

Stan was known for his great stories, his compassion, and for making everyone he met feel special and heard. He loved his coffee, cigarettes, and camaraderie with everyone who was fortunate to call him a friend. He enjoyed his family & grandchildren immensely. He also loved to fish, camp, and attend family reunions.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Clair and Chic, and sister Tina.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Judy, his sons Stanley Jr.(Jodell), Bryan, Vincent, Tom(Angie), and daughter Kitty(Tim) Pearson. 13 grandchildren Samantha, Roxann, Melissa, Brandyn, Jade, Ashley, Shaine, Amber, Tate, Carter, Brooklyn, Delaney and Owen. Along with 16 great grandchildren. Brother Kenny(Shirley), sister-in-law Velda Nelson, many nieces, nephews, and Webster families.

Stan was the type of man the world needs more of, he will be forever loved, and greatly missed by many.

Stan’s Celebration of Life, for all family & friends, will be held Saturday March 6th, 2021 from 1-6 PM at the Moose Lodge in Two Harbors, MN. A short service will be held at 2PM followed by a Military Salute.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made towards the American Legion Post 109.
