Scott G. Konu

Scott G. Konu, 52, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2020. He was born May 26, 1967 to Kenneth & Marie (Blomster) Konu in Stillwater, MN. Scott graduated from Stillwater High School in 1985. He was a 1989 UMD graduate with a degree in communication and history. He married Kristi Bruneau on August 23, 2014.

Scott was employed at Northland Constructor’s as a Heavy Equipment Operator and was an active member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 49 also working for them as an instructor at their training center. His profession as an Operating Engineer took him all over the world working for the U.S. Antarctica program and Polar Field Services at Summit Station Greenland. Scott loved to keep in touch with his ice family from around the world.

Scott was devout member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Cloquet where he was active with services and building functions. He was a talented builder, photographer, skier, musician, traveler and fisherman. Most important to him was his love of Kristi and her children Josie and Ben. He was inspirational with their activities and interests encouraging their participation. He loved nature, hockey, football, a good time, a good bonfire and enjoyed talking with friends and people in the community.

Scott is preceded in death by his father, his nephew Jackson and his father in law. He is survived by wife Kristi; mother, Marie Konu; stepchildren Ben and Josie; sister Sara (Terry) Dorr; brothers Eric (M’Liss) Konu, Bruce & Mark Konu; nieces Kendra and Monica; nephews Elias and Issac; step nieces Amie, Andrea and Maria and step nephew Bobbi, mother and father in law John and Arleen Heyd and many cousins and friends.
