Ruth G. Johnson, 99, of 4002 London Road, Duluth, died on Friday, March 5, 2004, in Lakeshore Lutheran Home, Duluth. Born June 4, 1904 in Superior, she was longtime area resident. She was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Duluth and its Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John B. 'Jack' Peterson; second husband, Elmer Johnson; a son, John R. Peterson; an infant son, Leroy Dale Peterson; three sisters, Bertha, Harriet and Ollie; and three brothers, Roy, Marloff and Russell. Surviving are her daughter, Carolyn Hanson, Two Harbors; her stepdaughter, Joyce Schlanten, Sioux Falls, S.D.; five grandchildren, Pete, Richard, DeeAnn, Donovan and Christopher; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and Jack Alnes, who made many things possible and Ruth's family at Lakeshore Lutheran Home for the past 19 years. FUNERAL SERVICE:2 p.m. Friday in Downs Funeral Home in Superior, where visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Craig Carlson will officiate, with interment to be in Greenwood Cemetery.
