Peter J. Laiti

Peter J. Laiti, 86, Two Harbors, died Sunday, April 26, 2020 in Waterview Shores.

He was born May 11, 1933 to Edward and Evelyn Laiti in Duluth. Pete grew up in Clover Valley where he graduated from high school in 1951 and raised his family. As a master carpenter, he was self-employed as a building contractor for many years, his specialty being framing carpentry. He moved to Two Harbors in 2004.

As a young man, Pete enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sports. In his later years, he learned to enjoy golf, and his time spent with friends and staff at Lakeview National Golf Course.

Pete was preceded in death by parents and brothers and sisters, Betty Wenho, Bill Laiti, Joyce Edblom, and David Laiti.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie “Tinky”; children, LuAnn Anderson, Connie Laiti, Mark Laiti, Mary (Jeff) Mitchell, Joy (Mike) Gretsch, and Kris (Ron) Betcher; grandchildren, Christy (Josh) Schealls, Craig Anderson, Phillip (Jamie) Anderson, Mari Jimnack, Hannah (Andrew) Bergoon, Ryan (Patricia) Mitchell, Andrew and Matthew Gretsch; and Finnley Betcher; great-grandchildren, Alayna and Jackson Schealls, Trenton, Ethan, and Emily Anderson; a sister, Corrine Bloomquist; and a brother, Phillip Laiti.

The family would like to thank the staff of Essentia Hospice and Waterview Shores for the compassionate care they showed to Pete and his family in his last days.
