Richard “Dick” Frederick Bohlmann

Resting in his favorite recliner, Richard “Dick” Frederick Bohlmann passed away in his home next to his beloved wife.

Dick was born in Duluth to Hulda (Beers) and William Albert Bohlmann. He graduated from Duluth Central H.S. in 1952.

On Apr. 16, 1960, Dick married Benita “Bunny” Johnson of Duluth, and their son, Adam Richard Bohlmann, was born in 1963.

Dick worked for the DM&IR before he joined the U.S. Army, then the Amy Guard. He transferred to the MN. Air National Guard in Duluth and served in the armament section, was the captain of the pistol team, & ran the shooting range, retiring as a Tech. Sergeant. He joined the Duluth Fire Department and retired as a captain after 25 years.

Loving the lake life, Dick started his own charter fishing company in the early 1980’s, captaining the Lida Rose, the Yellow Rose, then the Rambling Rose for 28 years. He finished his charter fishing days as a first mate for his son, Adam.

Always the outdoorsman, he loved fishing & deer hunting.  He and Bunny loved visiting the Apostle Islands, their life on Park Point, golfing, and traveling to the warmth of Florida. Dick and Bunny were members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church then Spirit of God Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by parents, his brother William “Bill” and his wife Dorothy Bohlmann.

Dick will be greatly missed by his wife and son Adam (girlfriend Sheri Coleman) Bohlmann;  nephews Brad Bohlmann of Duluth; Craig Bohlmann of Appleton, WI; Scott Johnson of Cloquet; & Michael Johnson of Duluth; niece Lynn O’Donnell of Buffalo, MN; and many friends.

A visitation will be held at the Cremation Society on Grand Ave. on Fri., Sept. 9 at 2:00; funeral at 3:00; luncheon to follow. See full obituary on Cremation Society website.
