Donald M. Watkins

Donald “Donnie” Watkins, 67 of Culver MN, passed away unexpectedly on December 21st, 2021 in his home, surrounded by loved ones.

Donnie was born on August 24th, 1954 in Duluth, MN to Donald and Hilda Watkins. He grew up in Culver, MN with his parents and siblings. He married the love of his life, Sandy, on February 3rd, 1979. They had two children, Garret and Haley, Donnie’s prides and joys. He worked as a dedicated Laborer (Local 1091), for a total of 46 years. 15 of those were served as the Business Agent.

Don lived a life full of humor, fun and no regret. Anyone that knew him will forever hold a “Donnie Watkins” story. One did not spend time with him without laughing until it hurt. Wherever he was, a party was sure to follow. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. He was most at peace on the beach of Lake Havasu or on the lake at the cabin. He enjoyed taking rides on his side by side and exploring all of nature. One of his favorite things to do was pick agates wherever he went. Most of all, Don loved being with his family and creating memories. His four grandchildren were the apples of his eye and brought him joy beyond measure. He created a beautiful life of togetherness and love for his family.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Sandy; son, Garret(Alyssa) of AlBorn; daughter, Haley(Justin) of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Dawson, Laynie, Colton and Kendall; sister, Yvonne of Savage; nephews Alan of Mankato and Trevor of AlBorn; nieces, Renee of Chaska, Kelly(Rob) of Anchorage, AK, Jennifer of Culver, Stephanie(Roy) of Shakopee; sister-in-law, Linda(Gene) of Cloquet; brother-in-laws, Larry(Bev) of Duluth, and Ronnie of Factoryville, PA; many special friends, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Donnie is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, sister Kathy, nephew Lonnie Michael, and best friend and brother, Steve.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 6th at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Saginaw, MN, with the memorial service to follow at 11:00.
