Robert Larry Rothenberger was born on June 12, 1951, to Robert and Roberta (Rabey) Rothenberger in Grand Forks, North Dakota. As a young child, Bob, along with his mother and his siblings, moved to Malung, MN. Bob attended school at Malung Elementary and Roseau High School.
Bob was married to Debra Dahl on June 11, 1968. As a young married couple, they moved from Roseau County. They lived in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, and spent a few years in Oregon before permanently settling in the Duluth, Minnesota area.
Bob has always had a creative mind; for example, as a young child, he was supposed to wear sox to school. He didn’t want to do that so he painted “sox” on his feet and got away with not wearing sox to school! He also had an entrepreneurial spirit.
Bob and his wife, Debra, with their entrepreneurial spirit, were successful business people, owning several Roberts Home Furnishing furniture stores located in Duluth and surrounding communities.
He had a high regard for education, and his grandchildren were the “apples of his eye”.
Bob passed away unexpectedly on November 10, 2020, at his home in Canyon, MN. He was 69 years old.
Robert Larry Rothenberger is survived by special friend, Carol Biron, his sons, Tony and Scott, his granddaughters, Cheryl, Jade, and Kirsten, his great grandchildren, Amelia and Oliver, his brother Wayne (Rhonda), sister Carol, and several nieces and nephews.
Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Debra, his parents, step-dad Armand Dybedahl and his brother Lynne.
A celebration of life for Bob will be held in Duluth next summer when it is safe to do so.
