Calvin R. Skoglund

Calvin R. Skoglund, 91, of Duluth, died peacefully at Keystone Bluffs on Friday, January 8, 2021, due to congestive heart failure. Calvin was born in West Duluth to Ruben and Jenny Skoglund on April 12, 1929. He graduated from Denfeld High School and served in the Army during the Korean War. He was also a boxer in his younger days. Calvin married Lydia Finka on September 18, 1954 and they had three children. He retired from the Burlington Northern Railroad after 45 years. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lydia; brothers, Jerry and Dale; sister, Laura Mae Jones; nephew, Mark Skoglund; father-in-law, mother-in-law; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He is survived by daughters, Nancy (Ron) Anderson and Betty (Larry) Skoglund-Moe; a son, Paul; grandchildren, Joshua Anderson, Emily Skoglund, Sally (Curt) Laine and Eric Skoglund; step grandchildren, Summer (Rick) Allen-Murley and Ian Moe; great grandchildren, Kylie, Jade, and Grace Laine; step great grandchildren, Ryan and Julia Allen and Samuel Murley; a brother, Dennis (Bev) Skoglund; several nieces, nephews and his lifelong friend, Lloyd Simich. A graveside service at Oneota Cemetery will be held in the spring. Arrangements by Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home.
