On Friday, December 11, 2020, Roy Walter Anderson passed away at the age of 65. Ten years earlier, Roy had courageously fought cancer into remission, but the disease returned suddenly and progressed rapidly.
Roy was born on December 25, 1954 in Duluth, Minnesota to Gerald and Virginia Anderson. After graduating from Duluth East High School, Roy enlisted in the Navy, where he served on an aircraft carrier as an aircraft sheet metal specialist.
After his military service, Roy was employed by Cameca Science as an electron microscope technician, both installing and servicing these highly technical instruments.
After moving to Michigan, he married Diane Vandouser where they raised their son, Nicholas.
Roy was an avid outdoorsman and greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a quick wit with a wry sense of humor and a penchant for entertaining those around him. He got along with anyone easily and made many friends over the years.
He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald, his mother, Virginia, and his sister, Sharon. He is survived by his son Nicholas, his brothers, Roger and Burt, and many cousins and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Roy’s life will be held at a future date and at a location to be determined.
