Ardis Shea

Ardis Shea, 84, of Duluth, died Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Solvay Hospice House surrounded by family. Ardis was born on July 22, 1936 in Duluth to George and Jenny Childs. She was a Duluth Central High School graduate and worked for Shoppers City and K-Mart in her younger years. She married Robert Shea in Duluth in 1957 and together they raised four children. Besides being a homemaker, Ardis worked at the Mont du Lac Ski Lodge and was known for her fabulous Sloppy Joe’s. Ardis was a member of the Mission Creek Church, Fond du Lac Community Club and the Harbor Light Good Sam Camping Club. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed camping, quilting and cross stitching. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John “Jack” Childs; a daughter, Doreen Shea. Ardis is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob”; her children, Jon (Maria) Shea of Iron River, WI, Cathy (Mark) Thro of Duluth and Michael (Mel) Shea of Wheatland, WY; three sisters, Joyce Bublitz of Spokane, WA, Georgia Lambert of Duluth and Corky (Bob) Heller of Duluth; a sister-in-law, Karen Childs of Duluth; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren. Private family services will be held. Pastor Jack Harris officiating. A video stream will be published on the Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home Facebook page on Friday, August 28, 2020 starting at 1 p.m. Memorials to the Solvay Hospice House would be appreciated.
