Lynda Marie Berg, 75, of Duluth, passed away in her home surrounded in love with her family on Monday, October 14, 2019. Lynda was born in Duluth on May 14, 1944 to Helen and Edwin Solie. She graduated from Duluth East in 1962. As a teenager she worked as a car-hop at A&W Shore drive. She attended Duluth Business University and went on to a 32 year career as a secretary at the MN DOT where she made many life-long friends and met her husband. On September 14, 1968 Lynda married Manson Berg and had 51 years of marriage, partnership, and friendship. Together they were co-owners of Skyline Court Motel. Lynda and Manny had two children, Nicole Raymond (Berg) and Craig Berg. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who put the love of her family before herself. Lynda loved giving - this was evidenced by over 5 gallons of blood donated over her life-time. There is no greater evidence of her giving than her heart-felt gifts to her family and friends. Lynda spent countless hours pursuing her passion for shipping, often spending entire days at the racks. If shopping were an Olympic Sport – Lynda would have won the Gold! She also enjoyed pressing her luck at the Casino and often came home a winner. She looked forward to monthly meetings with the girls from Birthday Club which has been meeting for almost 50 years. Lynda loved walking and would often be spotted around Hermantown miles from home, walking up to 10 miles some days. After retirement, Lynda and Manny spent many winter months walking miles and miles of Florida Beaches. The two enjoyed traveling together, but always returned home for their children and grandchildren.

Lynda loved dogs and had many beloved black labs throughout her life. She was a great baker of cookies and there were always homemade treats in the house. Lynda loved Christmas and delighted in giving and creating Christmas magic. Lynda’s greatest joy in life were her grandchildren, Michael, McKeely, Corbin and Ella. She was their loving grandma in life and will be their guardian angel for all time.

Lynda had a sharp wit and her and Manny’s banter was epic and enjoyed by all who witnessed it. Her beautiful smile and kind and giving heart will be missed by all who knew her.

Lynda is preceded in death by her Mother, Helen (Kolstad) Solie; Father, Edwin Solie and brother Ken Solie.

Lynda is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Manson Berg, her daughter Nicole Raymond (Joel), her son Craig Berg (Cassie); her grandchildren Michael, McKeely, Corbin and Ella; her sister-in-law, Jeanette Solie; nieces and nephews and countless close family friends.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, October 18, at Bell Brother’s/Jarvi Dowd Funeral Home. Funeral services at 11:00 am at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Twig. Burial at Grand Lake Cemetery.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the girls at Accentucare In-home Care and St. Luke’s

Hospice.
