Louis ‘Lou’ T. Willie

Louis ‘Lou’ T. Willie, 72, of Superior, died Wednesday November 18, 2020 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.

Louis was born on Aug. 31, 1948 the son of Thomas and Rose Willie.

He served his country in the US Army in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971 and was awarded the Bronze Star for valor. He was very proud of his service and was a member of the UWS Vets Club, VFW, and American Legion.

He had worked for many years for the City of Superior as a Building Inspector. He also served as a Douglas County Board Supervisor.

Lou was a man of many skills and tried everything once. He enjoyed spending family time on Bass Lake, conversations with friends, and later in life he enjoyed traveling. He was especially proud of his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Bill Lehman; brother-in-law, Jack Casper; and special aunt and uncle, Louie and Elaine Willie.

Lou is survived by his children, Christopher (Mary) Willie, Ed (Kim) Willie, and Cindy (John Gunnon) Willie, all of Superior; grandchildren, Sabrina, Tiffany, Caden, and Samuel Willie and William Lofald; siblings, Pat (Leo) Sibila, Betty (Larry) Emberson, Tom (Pam) Willie, Kathleen Casper, Jeff (Kathy) Willie, Bob (Leta) Willie, and Tim (Tina) Willie; mother of his children, Pat Olson; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 24th at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery. Gary Banker will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.

The family would like to thank the staff at Superior Rehab, Dove Home Health, St. Luke’s Hospital, and Benedictine Health for their wonderful care of Lou.
